Textbook Description
As the long-time best-seller, Garrison has helped guide close to 2 million students through the challenging waters of managerial accounting since it was first published. It identifies the three functions managers must perform within their organizations plan operations, control activities, and make decisions and explains what accounting information is necessary for these functions, how to collect it, and how to interpret it. To achieve this, Managerial Accounting, 12/E, focuses, now as in the past, on three qualities:

Relevance Every effort is made to help students relate the concepts in this book to the decisions made by working managers. With insightful chapter openers, the popular Managerial Accounting in Action segments within the chapters, and stimulating end-of-chapter exercises, a student reading Garrison should never have to ask “Why am I learning this?”

Balance There’s more than one type of business, and so Garrison covers a variety of business models, including not-for-profit, retail, service, and wholesale organizations as well as manufacturing. In the twelfth edition, service company examples are highlighted with icons in the margins of the text.

Clarity Generations of students have praised Garrison for the friendliness and readability of its writing, but that’s just the beginning. Technical discussions have been simplified, material has been reordered, and the entire book carefully retuned to make teaching and learning from Garrison as easy as it can be. In addition, the supplements package is written by Garrison, Noreen, and Brewer, ensuring that students and professors will work with clear, well-written supplements that employ consistent terminology..

Managerial Accounting Reviews
I really learned a lot from Managerial Accounting. The text is very succinct and helpful, if a little too detailed. There is a wealth of practice problems available, even if you sometimes have to dig through them in order to really get to the helpful review. The book would have benefited from having the answers to the practice problems included, but the review problems at the end of each chapter are super helpful. Finally, the real-life business insights are the best I have ever read in a textbook and really made it enjoyable to read.

This book is impressive. It has many links to useful information in addition to this book, has an online learning center with the book, has dozens of people from various schools that came together to make it, has colorful graphics and illustrations (that make the concepts easy to understand, has information relevant to current events, and the ability to study the content on your ipod. Way to keep up with the times.

I had to buy this book for my Accounting class so I opted for the best and cheapest solution available so I decided to buy from Amazon.com. The shipping was great (2- 3 days) and I checked everything and it great until halfway through my class, 2 chapters were missing in the book without any pages ripped out. Either it was a misprint or something but it kind of hurt my progress in the class (a lil’ bit) but other than that it was fine. The actual book is fine if someone is teaching/helping you so I guess it does what it is supposed to do. Its a college, who honestly ENJOYS reading their college books???

The content of this book is great. This is the best Managerial Accounting book out there. However, the format and features need some improvement:
1) Needs check figures. You can’t really use this book for self-teaching because you cannot be certain that you have completed the exercises, problems, or cases correctly. For whatever reason, the authors failed to include answers to even numbered problems or to provide check figures. I was finally able to find check figures for problems and cases on the books website but I not exercises.
2) I bought the book from Amazon NEW, but the book was missing the card with the log-in codes to the book’s website, so I wasn’t able to access all of the book’s support features. VERY DISAPPOINTING. I should have just purchased it from my college bookstore.
